Before coming on a business trip to Beijing Olympic Games, I didn't have high expectations for hotels in this core area. I always felt that accommodations near the venues were either overpriced or had outdated facilities. It wasn't until I checked into Beijing Ya'ao International Hotel and stayed for 5 consecutive days that I realized it had blended the comfort of an old school star rated hotel with the comfort of modern accommodation into every easily overlooked detail. When I left, I even felt a bit reluctant to pack my luggage.
Get out of the Olympic Sports Center subway station and walk along the trail filled with white wax trees for 8 minutes to reach the hotel. The autumn sun shines through the leaves on the ground, relieving the exhaustion of the journey for half a minute. Open the door of the hotel. There is no crowded and noisy downtown hotels. The warm and fragrant air is wrapped in the right temperature. When the front desk handed over the room card, it specifically reminded me that the room had fresh air ventilation in advance, so as to avoid the dryness in the north that would make the guests uncomfortable, it also slipped me a small bottle of free moisture spray. This detail just stuck with me living in the south all the year round.
At the moment of opening the guest room door, there was no dry and stuffy feeling commonly seen in northern autumn and winter. The constant room temperature of 23 degrees combined with just the right humidity instantly eliminated most of the dryness and itching in the throat. The space of over 30 square meters is spacious and transparent, with light wood colored furniture paired with low saturation beige soft furnishings. There is no excessive stacking of internet famous decorations, but there is a sense of comfort everywhere: the spacious sofa by the window is covered with soft cashmere mats, and free chubby sea tea bags are arranged in advance on the small side table next to it, specially prepared for guests who come for business and have a lot of voices. A customized 2-meter-wide spine protection bed with high support cotton bedding that is soft and not slippery. Lying on it, the waist and neck are firmly supported, and after two days of continuous exhaustion, half of it dissipates after ten minutes of lying down.
The experience of the bathroom space exceeded expectations, with no scale or mold commonly seen in old hotels. The dry wet separation design completely separates the shower area from the washbasin, and the German brand's thermostatic showerhead has dense and stable water output. After a day of browsing or using it all day, the feeling of sourness can be relieved by taking a ten minute hot shower. What surprised me the most was the free high-end hair care set, with a faint chamomile fragrance that completely lacked the pungent sensation of cheap hotels. After washing, my hair wouldn't knot as usual due to the dryness in Beijing. Even the cotton pads used for wiping hands are thick and soft like the styles commonly used at home, not thin paper sheets that break easily with just a pull.
During the few days I stayed, the cleaning lady would quietly sort out the project materials I had laid out on the table in order, fill my thermos with hot water, and see me coughing twice. The next day, she even specially put two extra packets of throat lozenges in my room. Working overtime until late at night and returning to the hotel, the security guard at the entrance would nod and greet me with a smile, confirming that I had safely entered before returning to my post.
On the day I left Beijing, I stood at the hotel entrance with my suitcase and looked back, suddenly realizing that a good accommodation experience is never built on expensive facilities. The most reassuring place is to quietly take the customer's small habits to heart. Next time I come to Beijing Olympic Games, I will definitely book Beijing Ya'ao International Hotel directly and have a peaceful sleep that is not disturbed by dryness and noise.Show more
When I came to Beijing to watch a concert, I specifically chose the Beijing Ya'ao International Hotel in the core area of the Olympic Games. I thought that the area near the venue would be crowded and noisy, but when I pushed open the door with my suitcase, I realized that it had blended the convenience and tranquility of the Bird's Nest into the autumn Beijing style.
Take Line 4 from Beijing South Station and transfer to Line 8. Get off at Olympic Sports Center Station and walk for 8 minutes to reach the hotel. There is no need to take detours throughout the journey, even the ginkgo leaves on the roadside sway to your feet with the wind. The tall lobby is spacious and atmospheric, without the crowded noise of nearby venues and hotels. The warm light falls on the marble floor. The check-in staff smiled and reminded me that the room facing east in the high area can directly see the night view of the Bird's Nest. They even gave me a note indicating the location of nearby late night snack shops, afraid that I wouldn't be able to find food after watching the concert.
Open the door of the guest room in the high area, and the whole french window first hits the eye. The silver outline of the bird's nest in the distance is indistinct in the clouds. Downstairs are contiguous urban green belts, and even the air is filled with the unique cool breath of autumn in Beijing. The layout of the room is spacious and not cramped, with light toned soft furnishings paired with just the right amount of wooden details. There is no excessive sense of luxury, but there are comfortable details everywhere: the large sofa by the window can be collapsed to see the distant venue, the 2-meter-wide large bed is covered with high count cotton bedding, which is soft and not collapsing when lying down, and the fatigue of sitting on the subway for two hours is dissipated in the moment of lying down.
What surprised me the most was the pedestrian circle around me. Living here, I hardly took a long taxi: after the concert ended, I followed the crowd and walked leisurely for 15 minutes to get back to the hotel, without having to squeeze into a half-hour ride hailing service at the entrance of the Bird's Nest; Get up in the morning and walk for 10 minutes to reach the Olympic Park. Run two laps along the trail, and autumn ginkgo trees will cover the entire road; It only takes a 12 minute walk to take photos at the Water Cube, without the need to drive back and forth. I came back hungry in the evening, and there is an old Beijing copper pot braised pork belly just a 5-minute walk downstairs. You don't have to run far to enjoy the hot smoke and fire.
In those days, I didn't have to hurry up at all. In the morning, I ate a bowl of hot soybean milk deep-fried dough sticks in the breakfast restaurant of the hotel with the scenery outside the window. Then I went to the Olympic Park to stroll around the autumn scenery. In the afternoon, I went back to the hotel and collapsed on the sofa to make up for sleep. In the evening, I walked slowly to the venue to watch the performance. After the end, I had a night snack with Pengyoushun Road. On the way back to the hotel, I could still look up and see the stars in Beijing. Without the hustle and bustle of nearby venues and hotels, even the cleaning lady passing by would remind me with a smile which road in the park has the best yellow ginkgo trees.
On the day I left Beijing, I stood at the entrance of the hotel and looked back. In the distance, the outline of the Bird's Nest was shining in the sunlight, and the wind carried ginkgo leaves falling on the steps. The most rare thing about coming to Beijing to watch a performance is never being able to see the expensive rooms in the venue at a glance, but being able to walk slowly back to a quiet and comfortable residence without having to wait in the crowd for a bus after the show ends. Next time, I will definitely return to Beijing Ya'ao International Hotel and wait for the lights of the Bird's Nest in the night view of the french window.Show more
